This Guy...

Sometimes Cary is horrified by the stuff that I post.
Like yesterday when I posted pictures of the house.
He thought if I was going to post pictures like that, I should have atleast made it very well known that the house will still not look like that. (hopefully)

A few weeks ago, we watched the movie "Emma" (the new one with Johnny Lee Miller in it) and that inspired Cary to read Pride and Prejudice.
Now he wants to see the movie and needs to know which version to see. I told him that in order to get the full Jane Austen experience that he should watch the A&E version with Colin Firth.
Which version would you tell him to watch?

The House

Here is our future house.
The outside, anyway.
I know, you're jealous.

Washing My Hair

The other day I gave Aidan a snack and he asked for a drink of water, so I got him one as usual.
A few minutes later I was in the other room and he yelled to me that he was washing his hair.
"Uh, come again?"

So I go in to where he was sitting at the table and he was getting water out of his cup and "washing" his hair. He even combed it with his fingers too. ☺

How you doing?

I forgot I had taken these pictures the other morning before church.
You know? Like while their clothes are still clean and I've combed their hair.
They weren't mustering up much enthusiam for me and the camera, so I had to bring Cary in to get them to laugh.
Ella still isn't so sure...
Ella started out as a great sleeper, by 2 months old she was pretty consistantly sleeping through the night. I was thinking "yes! This is awesome." Should have known better... soon with teething, different illnesses, etc... she started adding  wake up times over the last several months, and by last week it was to the point where she was waking up 4 x's or more a night.
I was sick last Thursday night and Ella was waking up every 2-3 hours and I said "ENOUGH!". We're doing some sleep training or something, this is ridiculous for you to be 9 months old and waking up this much. (I knew it was bad, but sometimes you have to reach a "breaking point" in order to actually do something about it.) I hate letting them cry it out, but sometimes it's really the only thing that works, so that's what we did. If/ when she did need soothing we sent Cary in to do it so that it would make it a smoother transition.
On Friday, Ella started getting sick with a cold, so I was thinking "Oh no, guess we better not make her cry it out tonight" Bless her heart, she slept until 6:00. She's slept through the night ever since, but I know better than to think it will stay that way. ☺
When I've got Aidan and Ella sitting down at the table to eat they like to make each other laugh. It doesn't have to be about anything funny, they just start laughing so that the other person will laugh too. Aidan has started saying "How are you doing today?" and he speaks it very clearly. It's so cute.

Hmmm....

I saw this picture of Ella
and it reminded me of this picture of me.
I love her "after a nap" hair.

And this picture just reminds me of her brother!

Finally

It's hard enough adjusting to life after you've been on vacation, but when you come back home and there's a snowstorm for 2 days straight, that makes for things to be a bit miserable. It also doesn't help that when we visit family the kids get tons of attention from a bunch of different people so it's kind of a shock to it just being them and me. Aidan was continually asking for someone... "Grandma?, Jordy?, Kenneth?, Janille?, Sharon, Kayli, Kara, Megan, Caleb, etc... "
Yesterday, we hit the peak and Aidan spent pretty much half of the day in timeout. (yeah, it was awesome) Thankfully, yesterday was also the first day we finally had some decent weather so we met up with Melanie and the boys at a park.
It was close to where we live so Cary stopped by on his way home from work.
Ella was very excited to be outside
she liked watching the boys play, but she really wanted to get down and play on the ground herself.
It was a bit breezy and not really THAT warm, but it was just nice to be outside getting some vitamin D.
(and getting the kids out of the house)

Construction Update

A cool crisp April morning.
Josiah, John and Christian working on the wall... (Well, John and Josiah are anyway, not sure what Christian is doing ☺)

(All the light pole pictures taken by Sharon Conrad)
Getting ready to take the light down so the sidewalks going down the center of the community can be finished.
It's going to be so dark at night now. ☺
