Rosh Chodesh/ Yom Teruah

Last night we celebrated Rosh Chodesh on the eve of Yom Teruah. To make it special we decided to look for the new moon on top of Black Mountain.

Dean "I think I see it!"

It's confirmed, it IS the new moon!

Let the shofar blowing begin

Many of us could never see it, I finally saw it right before it set.

Looking for the new moon is actually loads of fun, you should try it some time. ☺

I'm confused. Isn't that kind of like going "snipe hunting" I thought a new moon was no moon in the night sky?

Ha, ha! ☺
Well, you're right from a science standpoint a new moon is a blank sky, but when we're talking about it in context with Rosh Chodesh, we're looking for the first sight of the "new" moon. So we're looking for the appearance of a tiny sliver of the moon.

Looks like everyone had a great time. Happy New Moon! I noticed all of the jackets. I wish our weather was cooler. I want to get out more.
