End of Summer BBQ

Dan and Melanie invited a bunch of us over to their place for a BBQ/ Potluck

After eating, the guys played a rousing game of croquet

Melanie had set a rubix cube on the table to keep the napkins from blowing away, Aidan kept stealing it.

Then some of us girls played a game of croquet

It's my blog, so I have to mention that I won the game. ☺

Sorry Abby, but I thought this was a funny picture.

At one point, Cary was trying to play and Ella wanted him to hold her so she followed him around crying.

Dan played "catch" with her and she cheered up.

Thanks Dan and Melanie!
We had a great time!

Belly Photo

My eyes! My eyes!
They're (their? my brain is NOT functioning this morning) not supposed to see cheesy self belly pictures!
Sorry for the creepy, cheesy, bathroom, self protrait.
Complete with dirty mirror.
This picture was actually taken a couple of weeks ago.
::sobs::
So THIS is why you aren't supposed to eat bags of Doritos in one sitting.
Hmmm....
In other news...
We aren't going anywhere this weekend and it feels really weird. (nice, but strange)
Yom Kippur is on Sunday, so Cary wouldn't be able to work on the house, so there was really no reason to go anywhere.
Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

Projects

At the start of nice weather I had about 10 furniture projects I had lined up that I wanted to do over the Summer.
Yeah.
That hasn't gone so well.
The first one I started on (back in June) was this stool that one of our neighbors was throwing out, I grabbed it and brought it home. (much to Cary's horror)

Two - three months later, I finally finished it.
I've never painted furniture type stuff before, I've only done the staining refinishing.
So I'm not very good at it. lol.
Good thing I picked a piece of furniture that the kids are going to beat up on, to work on first.

Aidan working on the final touches. ☺

All I did was paint it white.
(Geez, what took you so long?)
and modge podged some paper to the bottom for some fun color.
The kids love that thing, in fact they were very put out while I was working on it, since it meant they couldn't play with it.
In other news, since people asked. ☺
We're all still sick.
Amazingly enough, I'm the least sick of us all. (hoping it stays that way!)
Aidan's cold went right to his chest and he has a hacking cough all night.
My appointment went well on Monday.
Other than gaining 500 lbs, I had a surprise ultrasound.
(I had a surprise pap and physical too, but those weren't as fun) ☺
I was going to tell them to go ahead and see what gender the baby was, but figured I'd better wait and see if Cary wanted to be there or not.
I was thinking with the third child that I wouldn't care as much about finding out the gender before hand.
Not so.
So hopefully we'll be finding out on October 11.

State Fair 2010

So I wasn't planning on going this year.
I had a doctors appointment yesterday and I knew that it basically meant that we would miss the entire cow show by the time we showed up.
I wasn't too eager to go myself and try to keep track of two kids in a crowd AND try to take pictures of the show either,
BUT, after my appointment since Cary was home, we decided we'd just go hang out with my dad, Ben, and Crystal for a few hours since they couldn't leave until later that night.
Cary was wanting a funnel cake too. ☺
We got there right as the show was ending and they were outside taking a picture of a cow.

How many people does it take to take a picture of one cow?

Dad showing Aidan how to milk a cow

The cows are glad the show is over...

Cary found a funnel cake

Ella was a fan too

Ella didn't think Crystal was dirty enough so she thought she'd help her out

We went to the ice cream social later.
(a tent where they have a bunch of different ice cream stations from the various creameries around the state)
Aggie ice cream always has the longest line. ☺

Watching a little boy on the rock climbing wall

We were only there for a few hours, but by the time we left there were SO many people there you could barely move and I was getting claustrophobic.
We were all going to go out and eat before those guys started loading up to leave,
but Kevin was giving out the permits early which meant they could leave earlier.

You know you're back from vacation when...

1. Your kids are sick and you're pretty sure you're coming down with it too.
(although, I'm a bit of a hypochondriac) ☺
2. The (sick) kids wake up way earlier than usual the first day back home. (what's up with that?!)
3. The mountains of laundry
4. All the unpacking that needs to be done. Ugh.
Can we just watch TV all day?

Today is the State Fair Holstein cow show, I wanted to go but I have a doctors appointment right in the middle so I don't think we'll make it this year. :(
