BBQ @ Little Cottonwood

I need another weekend to recover from this last weekend.
I know, you're wondering why me, a stay-at-home-mom, needs a weekend in the first place.
I just do. I need Cary around to get much done these days.
If there isn't someone to occupy Aidan while I'm doing anything else, he's happily tearing our house apart and it currently looks like a bomb went off.
Yes, I could be cleaning right now...
BUT, both kids are napping and this is precious ME time! :)
Yesterday we headed up to Little Cottonwood Canyon for a BBQ with some family
Get away from the heat and stuff our faces with food
and sit around and visit, of course.

Picnic

The weather has been unbearably hot lately. Melanie decided we should go hang out in Mill Creek canyon, have a picnic, and let the boys play in the creek to cool down. She always has the good ideas. ;-)
Aidan decided to climb up the fire pit first thing and got black all over his face.
It was very pretty up there and we found a really nice picnic area

Aidan and Ethan were loving throwing rocks into the water
Sam just hanging out

Eating. Yay.

Moving

Not us.
Tara and Abby moved into a new apartment last week
Shawn had a bunch of furniture he was getting rid of, so he brought it up from California for them to put in their new place.
We went over to get in the way and watch people work

My chubby girl
Aidan having a blast with the tool set
We're all a *little* jealous of Tara's closet.
Taking a break
While Shawn tries to set up the tv
Aidan got a hold of Shawns iphone and was loving it
Still going.....

Friday

She's starting to rub all her hair off. :( She's starting to sport a pretty impressive mohawk.
Aidan is now warming up to her and runs to her when she cries and he wanted to hold her.

Zoo

We met up with Sydnie, Melanie, and kids for a couple of hours at the zoo this morning and par for the course lately, I didn't get very many photos.
Ethan, Henry, and Aidan looking at some animal I don't know the name of, in the Madagascar exhibit.
Looking at the monkeys
Checking out the camels
They have this huge iron elephant thing and it makes "elephant noises", but really it just sounds kind of creepy and scares the children.
exhibit A. - Aidan is staring at the trunk wondering what the heck is wrong with it

Ethan got brave and walked over to it. Aidan still wanted nothing to do with it.
Here is Katy, the pregnant elephant lady. She's 20 months pregnant. Egads.

All is well....

So when we got home on Monday there was a letter from the hospital saying that Ella failed the hearing test they gave her and so they wanted us to go back and get it redone. We went to her second hearing test today and she passed (after Aidan left the room). :) I was worried at first after reading the letter but then after paying attention you can kind of tell whether or not they are hearing noise, but anyway, now we know for sure.

Things are going pretty smoothly, as smoothly as things can go when there is a newborn in the mix. Heh. There is still alot of "clock watching" until Cary gets home.

My jelly belly is a whole 'nother matter...
