Master Bathroom - Before and After

Right....I was slowly going through our "finished" house and doing before and after photos. ☺
Next up, master bathroom, but formerly a closet.

What the closet looked like before we cleaned it out...

All cleaned out, and if you don't remember, we filled in the window and cut this room in half so that the bedroom we were creating could use half for a closet and the other half would be our bathroom off the master bedroom.

I know, I should have saved the wall paper, and the water heater. Actually, we still use that water heater, just from a different location, but that is the water heater that still heats all of our water. ☺
In framing process...creating a new closet and a bathroom.
And THEN we decided that to give ourselves enough room for a tub and just a little bit more room, we brought the bathroom into the bedroom about 18 (?) inches. One of Dean's better ideas. ;o)
Doing that made a huge difference!

Now we have a very nice bathroom and with little details, it makes this a great bathroom.

A medicine cabinet wasn't my first choice for a mirror, but when you don't have a lot of space everything has multi-task.
The countertop looks straight white, but it actually has light flecks of black, gray, brown, etc... in it. I'm really happy with that choice. Another thing I'm totally happy with is my toilet roll holder! ☺ Ha. Seriously though, even my 4 year old can replace the toilet paper...  I also got a "quiet close" toilet seat cover, and now I go around slamming everyone else's. It's the small things.
Here's a picture showing where you can see where we extended the bathroom, we couldn't get rid of the beam, so we had to work with it, and that the walls went from 2x4" walls to 2x6". ☺
I ♥ skylights, but I especially love them in bathrooms.
So I bought curved shower rods, and Cary didn't want to install them because that meant he would have to drill into the tile. He eventually did it anyway since I threatened to do it myself if he wouldn't, and we like it. ☺

Our original plan was to use small subway tile and the day that we drove into SLC to pick it up, we stopped at Contempo Tile, because we were looking for all of our floor tile too. Anyway, I saw this tile in the showroom and it was a closeout deal and I fell in love. It originally came in 20" tiles, but I still wanted the subway tile look, so Aaron cut them all in half for me. Aaron is the one that talked me into the diamonds interspersed in there, and in hindsight, I'd probably prefer to have just kept it simple and not have the diamonds, but I do love it all anyway. One thing I didn't think about was that in the show room I didn't think about the color of my walls next to the tile...and I still like it, but that tile screams that it want's to be next to a blue or gray wall. After we got it up, I really wanted to go crazy and paint my wall navy blue or something. Ha. ☺ I know, I need a little less blue and gray in my house...
The shelves, done like that, were also Aaron's idea and I really love them, I wasn't too sure at first, but they are really nice.
We went with hooks over towel rods, and so far I haven't regretted that decision... I do occasionally think that I'd like the hooks on a 1x4" white strip, but I don't really want them sticking out even further...so we'll see.
 Close up of the tile..
and close up of the tile with light shining on it. I really LOVE this tile. Aaron said it reminded him of a disco ball. :D Heh. To each our own, eh?
More small details, fan on a timer. So nice!

 With the lights on.
Ahhh.
More than you ever wanted to know about my bathroom! Stay tuned for the next bathroom. ☺

Master Bedroom - Before and After

This is where we're at so far, in this room.

What this room looked like when we first walked through.

Three different choices of carpet. ☺
all cleaned out (mostly)
I'm forgetting all the details already, but I know we brought the wall in where the closet is, by almost two feet (four feet?). We made this room smaller so that the kitchen/ living room area would have a little bit more room.
We had to put Cary's keyboard in here and I still haven't figured out what's going on the walls (besides the mirrors).

The ironing station

Love the closet. So does Britton.

Before
We brought the bathroom into the room about 12? 18? inches or so just to give a little more space. I'm really happy with the way it turned out. Gave us just enough more space in the bathroom, but doesn't feel like we gave up space in the bedroom.

Living Room - Before and After

I've been wanting to do before's and after's for all the rooms in our house, but I've been waiting to take pictures of the house now until after I'm done decorating. Well, apparently that will be never so I've just got to move on. This house is small, barely 1000 sq ft, so the goal was to make it feel bigger, bright and airy.
First up is the living room.
This is how it looked when we started.

During

After - The obvious changes being that we moved the window over and made it larger. We moved the door off the far wall.
Can't remember the name of the paint in here. It's a light gray/ blue and I love it, but it is very subtle. (as are most of the paint colors in this house.) ☺ Update: The paint color is Reflecting Pool by Behr.

Still haven't figured out what to do on this wall. I kind of like the idea of a picture wall, but I'm worried that would make this whole room feel cluttery. Suggestions?
A different angle of the wall.
I like mirrors and what they do for a room, but I already have a big mirror over the couch. (although, I'm open to moving it, just don't tell Cary I said that!) ☺ So what to do, what to do?
