When we showed up to EskDale last weekend, we were THRILLED to see that Ryan had been working on the house all week.
That was a nice surprise.
He got some walls up and framed a bedroom door.
(Me looking about 30 weeks pregnant instead of 14) |
The plan for Sunday was to put up the longer wall, which meant that the back door needed to be moved over.
Well, when they were taking the door out, it was discovered that the entire back wall isn't insulated. (yes, the outside wall isn't insulated! That's how old that part of the house is.) That meant that all the drywall needed to come down on that back wall and in the outside walls of the north bedroom.
Even Anthony was helping out that day. Although he kept wondering how that happened. ☺ |
Pretty soon it was decided that if that much dry wall was coming down, then ALL of the old stuff might as well be gone since it looked pretty bad. (our original plan was to just work with what we had and try to fix up the walls by texturing and painting over them.)
Don't get me started on the low slanted ceiling. ☺ |
Even two of Ryan's new walls had to come down so we could get the drywall off, so we really did reverse progress!
Oh no! Anthony has a saw. |
This is what it looked like when we left.
We just made a lot more work for ourselves.
The good news is that taking all the drywall down will make rewiring a lot easier, and new drywall is just plain going to look better than the walls that were there! ☺
So the next question is....who does drywall taping?
