Ugh!

Grandma and Grandpa Hanks and my mom have been supplying me with cucumbers, so I've made around 30 jars of pickles. I've tried two different recipies, so I'll have to see which one I end up liking better. The first batch I made I tried a recipe from Pinterest, and the second batch I made a family recipe that my Grandma Hanks used to make.
Now I need to get picking all the pears we have on our trees and so something with those. =P
Aidan is loving kindergarten, Ella is loving preschool, and Britton wishes he could stay at preschool. :) I let him stay a play for a few minutes every day, but he's still kind of like a bulldozer.
The strangest stomach bug is going around, and Ella has been fighting with it for a week now. She started throwing up last weekend, but at the time we weren't sure if it was something she ate or if she picked something up since at that time no one else had been sick. Well, Britton ended up getting it (and still has it) and I've not been myself, but this stuff has been hanging on for FOREVER.
Our neighbors, Brad and Cheryl moved today. They are moving on to bigger and better things for themselves and we wish them well in their new endeavors.
We had a freak rainstorm last week that dropped a lot rain in a very short amount of time, and the kids loved playing in all the puddles of the aftermath. The unfortunate (or fortunate?) is that all that water exposed a leak in our roof, and we had water running down through the light in our back entryway. Thankfully, Cary is a handy guy and fixed it. :)
Cary has really been getting a lot of work done in our yard and I'll have to post some updated pictures soon. We're hoping to get the lawn planted soon. We do have a pesky gopher that is making our life difficult and has been hard to get rid of.
Cary and Kiah are lawn and sprinkler experts now, so here they are fixing a sprinkler in grandpa's yard. ;)
 Britton is helping.
By running off with the tools.
The nights are definitely starting to cool down and it feels a little bit more like Fall until it hits 90 degrees during the afternoon...☺

End of Summer Concert

Another great concert! I loved the songs this night, but I was dead exhausted so it's amazing I took any photos. As per usual lately, at the end it started raining and they had to cut out some songs since they involved an orchestra and they didn't want the instruments out getting wet. They played them the next night at church though, so all was not lost. ;)

Dirty Progress

Who knew you could be so excited about dirt?!
Cary started filling in the yard with dirt, and thankfully he had some help. (Thanks to Brad, Crystal and my mom) It's lot of fun maneuvering the loader around sprinkler heads and trees. ☺

Hey, it's starting to look like this yard may actually happen. I'm gonna need some outdoor furniture to sit on though, since we're used to just sitting on the side drop-offs of the sidewalk. I'm thinking a couch in front of the big window would be nice...

Summer Hodge-podge

Cary has been getting a lot of work done on our yard in between his many various jobs. On these hot days the kids and I are content to drink ice water or lemonade and watch from the sidelines. ☺

Lots of pipe. The yard has been the source of a lot of contention in this household, so we'll be happy when the dirt is all in and we have a working sprinkler system and the FUN part can begin. ☺

 Random rainstorm across the valley.
Lighting hit the mountain-side just below the park and started a fire. Thanks to local firefighters and volunteers it was taken care of quickly.
 Britton fell asleep standing up.
I moved him so he was a little more comfortable and he looked so cute and sweet. ☺
Some videos of Ella singing, she's quite the performer lately. ;)

First day of Kindergarten!

Last night it was "Back to school" night, and all the kids picked out their desks, organized their supplies, and familiarized themselves with the classroom.

Ella was having fun with all the cool stuff to play with.

This morning Aidan got on the bus for his first day of school. When he got off the bus this afternoon he was off and running to play with friends on the playground, but from what I gather, he had a good day. ☺

Birthday BBQ @ Silver Creek

Sunday was Janille and David's birthday's and Alyshia's the next day, so Janille planned a BBQ party at Silver Creek.
When we first got there it was REALLY hot, so hot that eating almost didn't seem right. ;o) The bus provided some good shade though, so that was nice.

Britton enjoyed the cupcakes and I'd really like one of those right now.

After awhile, it was overcast and the temperature was perfect for awhile.

Yes, Janille and Tom's kids actually drive that bus around. LOL.

The reservoir is really low this year.

Britton loved the water so we really had to keep a close eye on him, especially since I forgot the life jackets. :P

Alyshia opening her gift from Hector, that was a 20 minute process. ;)

The end. At this point it started raining and the wind started blowing so it kind of broke up the party.
