Making Pie!

My New Year resolution is to post more...oh, wrong holiday.
Like most places, it's an EskDale tradition to make pies for Thanksgiving dinner on Wednesday afternoon. We didn't have that many of us helping this year, but we still had a lot of fun and made somewhere around 40 pies.
I posted a lot of pictures, but some of them made me laugh so they all had to be included. ☺

Funny Boy! (Nine months old)

My little charmer.
We took him in for his 6 month check up last week. (Yes, three months late)
I'm on it.
He only weighed 17 lbs 3 oz, and he's about 28 inches tall. So he's right on target for being one of our kids. ☺ (Our pediatrician is like 7 ft tall, so I'm really little to him)
Britton is so mobile that all his baby fat seems to be missing.
He popped two teeth. Finally.
(For an update about our sleeping saga in one of last posts: Britton ended up sleeping well and Ella was the one keeping me up all night. Thankfully, we had just unpacked our books so I found the book "Healthy Sleep Habits for Happy Children"  or something like that. It's a book that our pedi recommended when Aidan was little, and it's been helping us get the kids back on a better sleeping track! I've noticed a huge difference in their behavior, and mine. ;) )
 Back to Britton --
He's soooo close to walking, and if I'm being honest I'm kind of dreading it. He's growing up way too fast and already getting into everything! ☺
For now he settles with crawling, but he's pretty fast and so I tell him he looks like a little bug speeding along on the floor. The older kids think that's pretty funny.

Of course, he's a momma's boy right now so it's fun to snuggle with him while he'll allow it.
This kid is funny. He makes me laugh every day.
I'm not sure I've ever seen a baby drool so much. Seriously.
I bought him an amber teething necklace and it was supposed to solve all of our problems: teething pain, drooling, make him sleep through the night, never cry, etc... so far no dice. (No, I didn't really believe it would do all that) ☺ It was worth a shot.
The bigger question is "When will you have hair?" He's got a little bit of fuzz, so we'll see. Aidan had his first haircut when he was 2.5 yrs old. ☺ So we could have a long way to go.

Things That Could Make You Feel Old...

So this year, I've had a cousin that was one of my first babysitting jobs got married, and then Megan turned 11 last week. That makes me feel old because I was old enough that I was the one taking care of Alyshia and Caleb while Tom and Janille were in the hospital. (and that was 11 years ago. Ay yi!)
And now I have 3 babies of my own.
Old.
Arthritus in my fingers.
Old.
Anyway, Tom and Janille had us over for cake and ice cream in honor of Megan.
Britton was sporting his teething necklace on. He gets teased about that a lot.
Not that he knows that.

Whatchamacallit

We have heat!
Cary and Dean worked furiously for a couple of days to get all the ducting installed and hook everything up, and Friday night we had heat. Everywhere. ☺ Is there anything more glorious than to have warm air blowing on your feet when you're standing in front of the sink in the bathroom or kitchen?
 I think not.
Anyway, Sunday Cary moved on to a different project.
The shed/ storage room/ whatever you want to call it.
Greg came over and helped him and they got all the insulation up and some of the OSB. (boards) We're not doing drywall in there.

And this is all the stuff that we already had in there. Heh. Cary has to haul it all out and haul it all back in.

I've created a monster.
Britton is teething and he was sick a little bit ago. That meant that he was having a harder time breathing through his nose and sleeping at night.
I helped him out by holding him while he napped so that he could breathe and got suckered in and realized yesterday that the bum won't fall asleep or stay asleep unless I'm holding him.
This wouldn't be that much of an issue if he would actually fall asleep and let me put him down, but no. He decided yesterday that I should hold him at all times and all night.
So today was back to retraining him to go to sleep on his own. =P
He cried for over an hour this morning going down for his morning nap and he's cried off and on for about two hours tonight. (still crying right now)
 He's a little bit stubborn.
What's really bad is that all 3 kids are in the same room right now (long story) so they aren't going to get a very restfull sleep tonight.
Why don't I ever learn? ☺
Cary is gone tonight too, so it's going to be a long night for me I'm afraid.

P.S. Don't feel sorry for Britton, this is for his own good...feel sorry for ME, Aidan and Ella who have to try to sleep through this. ☺ I'm hoping he adjusts as quickly as Ella does. We had to do this with her around the same age and it only took one night and then she slept through the night every time after that.

Family Fall 2011 (Photo overload)

Sigh.
Sharon and I have been trying to arrange to get my family pictures done since August. It just hasn't worked out, and then we were finally able to do it and it was freezing that day.
As per usual, someone was always grumpy, whether it be the kids or the husband. ;o)
Photos are always nice to have whether people are uncooperative or not, especially since I don't think we've had a picture with all 5 of us in it, since our last photoshoot.
Thanks, Sharon!
