July Picnic

It's Kenneth's b-day on Saturday, but there are a million and ten things going on this week, so last weekend we met up with Tom and Janille's family and had a picnic up on the mountain in honor of his birthday.

Guess who they are looking at? ☺

The water is still pretty fast and high, and there are creeks on both sides of this picnic area, so we had to keep special tabs on the kids.

The food was AWESOME!

Ella was a little excited about the ice cream.
Time is flying by too fast!
For example, Britton is old enough for the jumperoo. :::sobs:::

And for the fact that I took these like 3 weeks ago and I'm just barely posting them.

Aidan and Ella were loving interacting with him and I love watching all three of them.

I just thought Ella's pig tails were cute.

The 4th of July weekend 2011

Blogger wasn't letting me upload photos for most of the week so this is coming at you a week late. Apparently they were updating since everything is looking different (and frustrating the heck out of me). =)

My little boys hanging out

It was a great weekend of being with friends and family and great weather, until the 4th.

The morning of the 4th was the 2nd annual walk-a-song.
(Last year's photos)

I missed it this year since Cary was running, so I was home with the kids.
When we drove up to EskDale, we passed Cecelia's water booth and Alex was still running.

Cary came in second out of the 5K runners (22:51 min), Dillon was first (22:09 min)
Stole the picture from Sharon.

As you can see from the walk-a-song photos, the day started out with good weather.
and then around 5:30-6:00 it started raining.
Rain isn't something we usually have to worry about for the 4th of July.
 Wind? Yes!
Rain? No!
We were all like "Crap, but it will blow over in like an hour."
Yeeeeaah.

That didn't happen.
It rained...
and rained...
and rained.
We were not prepared for that much rain.

Luckily, we have the dining hall and it can hold quite a few people, but most of the chairs were outside in the ampitheater for the program that was supposed to happen out there.
(the program ended up being in the aud)

It made for a pretty sunset later that night.
We still had a lot of people show up and we made it through!

All the rain ruined the fireworks show.
It flooded the electronics and wiring, so a bunch of the wires were shot.
Dean was able to get some of them to light, intentionally and unintentionally. =)
I can't remember how many actually went off that night, and then we tried the next night, but ultimately there were a lot of fireworks that were just ruined from too much water.
