The first weekend in June kicked off with Shavuot, and wow, the only thing I remember from it is what memory is jogged by these photos. 😁
Shavuot is metaphorically the wedding feast, and we had a fancy banquet, and some of these photos are of us waiting to go in. I do remember that steak was involved, so I do know the food was good!
Clara is a little better about staying up late, but she still hit her limit and fell asleep.
Every single outdoor light fixture was different on this house, so I broke down and bought all matching light fixtures, the most impressive part is that I installed them, the ones on this side of the house anyway...😀 Our house/ yard is still trashy looking, but I like to pretend that this helped a little bit.
Had to come out later that night and make sure they all worked! 😋
The three older kids went to an art camp the second week in June, and they ended up really loving it. Clara was totally devastated that she wasn't old enough to go.
We weren't able to make it much of the Snake Valley Festival this year, but we did make it to the water fight. The kids had a blast!
We took the kids on a little vacation down around the Parowan area, unfortunately, the Brian Head fire had started a day or two before we got there and the road we needed to take was closed, so that did end up messing up our plans. The place we were staying had a pool though, and I think that ended up being the kids favorite part anyway...😉
We went to Navajo Lake, and I hadn't been there since a family vacation in high school. We called it Bug-ajo lake at that time because there were so many bugs. Back then the water was low enough we could walk across the sandbar, but this time the water was high enough that the sandbar was under water. It was looking very pretty!
The campground was a different story, I think they are doing some construction, but the campground/ bathrooms were so disgusting. That's what Clara remembers from the whole experience. 😉
We drove around some, and then hiked to Cascade Falls (Springs?)
The kids were being very dramatic in their protests about not wanting to hike. 😄
They eventually accepted their fate, and enjoyed themselves.
There was a little rest area with a bench in the shaded area. We stopped and had a snack break there.
You can sort of see the water from the falls, and then I didn't get anymore photos! ugh. 😔
I think I was busy keeping kids from going off of drop offs and what not. 😝
Part of that trip we stopped at Parowan Gap to check out the petroglyphs, which was actually very cool, but it was SO hot that day. It was over 100° so we didn't stay as long as we probably would have liked.

Our last day of the vacation we had an orthodontist appointment in Cedar City, so we took the kids to Discovery Park, which they loved, but again with the heat. Ella got her ears pierced for her birthday, which was going to be in a few days!
I made a little bit of yard progress, but not much once school was over!
Ella turned 8!
We gathered at our house for a little party with cupcakes and cheesecake.
Alyshia was even here from Oregon since Dean Baker's memorial was the next day.
Summer school was the last weekend of June, and all of the kids were able to go. Clara was so excited!
Sienna visited for a few days, and I think she got used the kids. I might even say she missed them a little when they finally left her alone. 😉
Landon was at EskDale visiting his grandma for a month, and he ended up doing a lot with us.
Also, Karisa (Cary's cousin)and her 3 kids, visited for 3 weeks in June/July. Then Valerie came with her 2 kids the last week in June. All that to say, we had a lot of kids around! 😁
We planned a few "pool parties" during the week and then one day we decided to go hiking and get away from the heat.
We decided to attempt hiking to Stella lake, but we had a lot of younger kids, so we weren't sure how it was going to go.
It turned out to be a comedy of errors: On one of our snack stops, William had left his backpack, so Karisa wanted to go back and get it, but she got tired so she stayed there, then Evelyn started crying for her mom, so Valerie took Evelyn to find Karisa. The other kids and I were still hiking towards the lake, so I ended up hiking with nine kids (ages 2-12) to Stella lake. It was actually really fun!
On the way back down, Brennan (who is 2) tripped over a rock and hurt his knee, and that kind of made him notice his mom wasn't there, so he started crying and wouldn't stop. He wouldn't have anything to do with me, Ella and Kendra were being so good with him though, I was very proud of them!
All of the other kids did so well too, except for Landon. He was by far my biggest headache! 😀😀
Sorry Landon, but you know it's true.
The kids were so excited to see and play in snow, but were surprised about how cold it was. 😄
There was lots of popcorn and playing in water.
Gotta throw in some pictures of my flowers!
