Thanksgiving 2016

The Wednesday afternoon before Thanksgiving is pie making time.

Thursday morning was a brunch that we had with everyone. Then we hung out at Greg and Lois' house for awhile...

Aidan better enjoy it now, because it won't be long before he won't be able to take Britton down. 😁

We actually ate Thanksgiving dinner at Janille's house this year, so we headed over there later in the afternoon.

They were trying to be as short as grandma. Sorry I caught you with a weird face Breanna! 😀

The next day, (Friday) Ann invited the Hayward/Faber families to her house for dinner.

My kids don't really like to give Sienna her space. 😄

After our Thanksgiving meal, we took a family photo before David snuck out the door... 😊

House Project: Backsplash in kitchen

 We celebrated July 4th on July 3rd, so on the 4th, Cary wanted to start on the backsplash in the kitchen. So we did. 😎

For the tile, my first choice was mother of pearl, 😏 the budget didn't approve, so we went with a simple small beveled subway tile. 

We finished the tiling part that night, and then had to wait for Cary to return from out of town, and for the tile to set, and then we grouted. 

The backsplash and the added trim make a really big difference!

I love it. 

Now I just need to paint the ceiling, trim, and walls.😜

House project: Boys Room

The boys room back in 2014 during my annual house tour...

Don't get me started on the closets in this house. 😒

Taking it back to the first of this year...😋

I meant to post pictures earlier, but I was going to pull out my DSLR and take some "after" photos, but 5 months later I realized it's not going to happen, so sorry for the quality of these photos...although, I'm guessing at this point you expect more. 😆

In February, we Cary started ripping the carpet away from this area, moved the closet frame down,

and installed a "built in" cabinet, and then fixed the drywall. 

Easy peasy. 😀

Then we left it like this for an embarrassingly long time...because that's what happens when this isn't a full time job. Spring is always crazy busy, but then June hit and we figured we better get this done since we were supposed to have guests the first week in July. Oh, and because the boys would like somewhere to put their clothes and stuff...😜

the access to under the house is in this closet. (that's what the square is) we did cover it in flooring and then put a pull on it so it's easy to get up.

And I took the rest of these photos today, we added a rug in here, and Britt still doesn't have any decor on his side of the room. Ooops. 😝 (Clara doesn't have any either so it's all good)

The room is MUCH easier to keep clean, especially since everything has a place to go.

Down the road, we'd like to put crown molding up, but we're not in any rush.
