Busy Week!

In one week we buried grandpa Bob (visited with family), mom and dad left for Israel, Aidan and Ella had field day, everyone's last day of school, Breanna had a graduation party, then graduation, I broke out in hives rash so I had to take a day to run to the doctor. we adopted 3 kittens, then it was our Shavuot celebration starting on Friday going through the weekend, not to mention our ongoing battles with the barn swallows and mice.
My cousin Erika and her family stayed with us when they came out for grandpa's buriul and our kids loved playing with Fiona. Fiona and Clara are both Valentine's babies, but a year apart, although they are about the same size. ☺
Breanna graduated and my kids are already telling me they miss her!

So, another mouse story.... I don't know if you remember our mice story from last year, thankfully we haven't had any IN the house, but my dryer started making a weird noise when I'd turn it on and then it sounded like dirt was falling and then made a growling noise. Cary tried to convince me that it was normal, but I wasn't convinced, so I was researching online and found a lot of people near beaches that had issues with sand in their dryers making noise so I started taking apart some of the dryer to see if I could clean out the dirt, well, the vacuum starting sucking out large sections of dried grass and that's when I knew I had a different problem on my hand, so I yelled for Cary to take over. ☺ He had to take the entire dryer apart and we found a mouse nest under the drum, and two dead mice in the duct, and some poor mouse/ mice got in the fan and there was blood and guts all over. Ugh. We got it all cleaned out and put back together and everything worked as normal, but we're idiots and didn't cover our vent to the outside, so a few days later we found more grass and mouse poop in the lint catcher so we had to do it all over again, but this time they hadn't built much of a nest and no dead mice were found. We've since blocked off their access. (We hope!)

Grandpa Conrad's Graveside

The last time I wrote about my grandpa Bob, we had just taken him to the hospital/ carecenter because he had an infection that they were thinking had turned into septicemia and was making grandpa weak and that was why he was falling and not eating. Those are also the last pictures I took of grandpa because I never thought or remembered to take any pictures when we visited him at the care center.

Grandpa had an operation around the first part of March and it took him awhile to recover from that, but he was on the mend and apparently feeling so well that on May 9, a Saturday, he got up out of his wheelchair to walk and he fell and shattered his hip. They had to take him to Provo where they were going to do surgery the next day, Sunday. He made it through surgery and mom and dad saw him on Sunday afternoon, he seemed to be doing as well as could be expected, but about an hour after they left the hospital they got all call saying something was wrong with grandpa's blood pressure. Long story short. The pain from the shattered bone seemed to be taking a toll on grandpa; they did get his blood pressure under control. Dad had a cow show that week and had to be in Richmond, UT so Linda, Joanne, and Scott drove up from Maricopa on Monday to be with grandpa. By Tuesday it was becoming apparent that grandpa might not have much time left and they were moving him to hospice care. Those of us that could were trying to make arrangements to be able to go and see him. Linda and Joanne were with grandpa when he slipped into a coma Wednesday afternoon and that night Tim flew in and Dean, Janille and Rosaleen had joined them as well. Kenneth, Sharon, Kiah, mom and myself drove in on Thursday afternoon and we were only about 20 minutes away when they called and said grandpa's breathing had changed (again) and we weren't sure we would make it in time.
We made it and were joined by Chandra and Breanna, and dad was able to drive down to spend some time that night too. Lots of singing and crying in grandpa's room. ☺ The rest of dad's siblings were supposed to arrive the next morning.
Janille, Chandra and Breanna had to leave Thursday night because there was a State Track and Field event so they had to go the hotel to meet up with the other kids. Around midnight we decided we needed to eat, so most of us went to eat (Joanne stayed behind) came back to the hospital room, and I think a bunch of us considered staying up all night in the room, but ultimately we all left to get some rest while Tim and Joanne stayed behind with grandpa.
Tim called in the morning to say that grandpa passed away at 6:40 AM, Friday morning, June 15, 2015.
We all met back at the hospital and waited for Colleen, James, Kathy and Melodie to all arrive and then we all headed for EskDale.
We buried grandpa at EskDale on Sunday morning, May 17, 2015.
