Introducing Clara

Born Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 12:16 AM
She weighed 7lbs 11oz.
20" long
(Same size as Ella was but one ounce more) ☺
I'll post the birth story at the bottom, so if you want to read on....
otherwise, here are some pictures.

Wednesday, Feb 13th, I'd been having contractions all day, but this isn't anything new for me. That afternoon it was a nice day, the kids and I were outside playing and the contractions were getting more intense.  I was still only having about 2 contractions every hour so I wasn't too concerned. By the time we were eating that night I was in a lot pain everytime I had a contraction so Cary was trying to convince me that we needed to head to the hospital. I wasn't so sure yet, but Cary made me realize we had nothing to lose by going into SLC that night since I had appointments the next morning anyway, and we could find a place to sleep if the hospital wouldn't admit me.

So Cary and I got in the van and headed to SLC, although half-way to Delta I really considered just stopping at the hospital in Delta. ☺
I think God helped me out and I would have a really painful long contraction and then the next one or two would be shorter and less painful, and at this point they were every 5 minutes, so we did decide to just keep moving on towards SLC.
We got to the hospital around 10:00 PM and I was worried they wouldn't be admitting me since I still wasn't convinced I was in active labor, but I was REALLY wanting an epidural.
When the triage nurse checked me I was dilated to a 6, so then things started to get interesting and the nurses moved a little faster. ☺ By the time I was moved to a labor and delivery room and got the epidural, I was dilated to an 8. I think by 11:45 I was completely dilated, but there was meconium in the fluid when they broke my water, so we waited for the NICU team and everyone to be there and be ready, so I didn't start pushing until closer to 12:15. Clara was basically out with the first contraction I pushed on.
Easy peasy. Ha ha.

So far recovery has been great, I'm sure it helped a lot that I didn't tear this time. ☺

39 Weeks

One more week until the due date!
Eeek.
I'm not in a hurry, but my doctor is going to be out of town basically all of next week so I was kind of hoping to have this baby before he leaves or wait until after he comes back. ☺
It's not too big of deal, he didn't end up delivering Britton either.
My doctor doesn't want me going too far past my due date because of my history, so we already have an induction date of the 19th if need be. (which I didn't realize until after we discussed it that that is Britton's b-day!) ☺

Beads of Sanity

I bought Ella a bead set to make necklaces as a project for keeping her busy after the new baby is here. The kids haven't been having preschool this week because of frozen sewer pipes so this project came in handy early since the three of us have been slowing going insane. It's actually a good thing we pulled out this craft early because I ended up making the necklaces and bracelets all by myself since Ella's attention span lasted all of 10 minutes and I probably wouldn't have finished with a newborn around.

We ended up with 5 necklaces and 2 bracelets. I don't know where the other ones are in the picture. ☺
Britton has decided that Aidan's airplane is his. He's been carrying it around everywhere.

Photo Challenge

So I've been so bad and pulling the camera out and taking pictures lately that I decided to join some people doing a photo challenge this month on Facebook. I'll post some of the photos here, but probably not all of them. The first day was "My view today", so here is a top view of my belly. ☺ Yeah, I haven't been able to see my feet for months now.
 Britton being himself...

I mentioned that Britton has started going to preschool a couple days a week...Gwendy (his teacher) took a few pictures of him on the first day.

Here he is reading to Camber, what a sweet boy.
So cute!

38 Weeks

I'm trying to be better about the weekly belly photos since this is most likely the last time I'll ever be pregnant. ☺
Almost done!
I'm not sure if I'm more excited or more scared about the whole thing. ;)

A few things...

First off..a whiny vent.
I'm STILL fighting this stupid sinus crap (going on 3 weeks now). It's like the inversion that sits over SLC, the congestion is hanging around in my sinus' making me have a constant headache. If I still have it next time I see the doctor I might just ask for some antibiotics.
Britton started going to preschool this week. He looks perturbed in this picture because he was upset that I was taking a photo instead of letting him go out the door. ☺
The kids would like their rooms to have some personality and so I've been slowly trying to get around to decorating. I've made some small progress in the girls room. The hard part is that they are so opinionated now in their old age that everything has to pass inspection and be approved. Ella likes pink, so if I do something with pink I'm pretty safe...

I'm trying to follow an organizing challenge on my other blog so if you're interested in that sort of thing you'll have to check it out. This week's challenge is the refrigerator and freezer which I have to admit I'm not all that motivated about. ☺
