Pathway

I wanted a pathway in the backyard off the patio, and we were originally talking about going the paver route, but since we're still buying brick for our boundary line between grass and flower beds, we decided to go with rocks that were already available to us.
Cary hauled most of the rock and installed it all in one day!
We still haven't planted lawn...hopefully soon as our time is running out.
Theoretically this pathway is supposed to make it so we use the back door more, but that hasn't happened yet. ☺
In other yard news: Cary finally trapped what was hopefully the last gopher! That stupid thing has been very elusive and Brad tried trapping it for us 3-4 times with no luck, but Cary finally got it.

Pretty Britty

Getting in his car and waving bye!

I've been pretty bad about getting any pictures of the kids, I'm trying to be better about it.

Wheel-a-thon 2012

Tuesday was the Wheel-a-thon, which is a fundraising deal for the K-6 grades. (or the PAT?) Anyway, the kids get sponsored and set a price for every mile that they ride their bikes, and the K-2 grades can ride up to 8 miles, and the 3-6 graders can ride up to 16 miles.
I wasn't able to be there, so I stole these two photos from Janille. ☺ Ella had school that morning and then I took Ella and Britton over to Baker Hall where we helped put together the lunch that was for the riders and volunteers after the bike riding was all over.
Grades K-6.
Aidan said he only rode 6 miles but it turned out he rode the whole 8 miles! I was impressed since I wasn't sure how far he would actually make it on a bike with training wheels and all that.
After lunch was over we ended up spending the rest of the afternoon at the Baker school playground. The kids were having so much fun playing with Megan, Kayli, Caleb and Alyshia.
This was after we got back home and he wanted to make sure I got a picture of the marks on his hand.
They make a mark on the hand for every mile they ride, and Aidan only had 6 marks which is why he thought he only rode 6 miles. ☺ He just apparently forgot to get his hand marked a couple of times.

Yard Update Sept 10, 2012

It's been a couple (or 8) years since I've been going to school, I don't dread Fall anymore and I actually quite enjoy it (although Halloween tends to muck up an otherwise enjoyable time of year). The one thing I don't love still, is the fact that I start waking up in the morning and it's still dark outside and this year I now have to get Aidan up and on the bus. Many years ago I was considering getting an alarm clock that has a wake up light, and now I'm revisiting that idea as I feel it would really be beneficial for me. Ha. Atleast beneficial in maybe me not hating waking up so much.

My only hang ups are: a) the price (ouch!), and b) Cary said he would smash it to little bits if I put this in our room. Hmmm... I'll let you know where this goes.
Now about our yard. So close, so close! We're still buying and laying down brick, but we'll hopefully be planting lawn here in the next week. It was supposed to be this week, but you know how it goes. =P Hopefully we can get it done before Cary starts more farming, but really I'm excited about planting the FUN stuff like flowers, bushes, ground cover, etc... although, a lot of that may have to wait. ☺

We need a few more bikes, toys, and "stuff" in our front yard, eh?

Next up:
I've been meaning to do some belly shots with this pregnancy, but after taking them, I see why I was so resistant. It seems I'm growing a baby in my bum and not my belly! Ay yi yi. =P

Snake Valley Days

Last Saturday, I caught this during church.
Later that afternoon we headed over for Snake Valley Days BBQ (a fundraiser for the Snake Valley Fire Dept.) I wasn't able to pull my camera out until after the food was gone, everyone was done eating and mostly gone. (We had a scrumptious meal of beef brisket, baked potato, baked beans, salad, rolls, corn on the cob, watermelon, and homemade slushy root beer.)
Janille trying to corral Britton from climbing up tables.

Strangely enough, none of the kids got hurt running up and down that board. It was later on when Britton tripped and smacked his head full force into one of the concrete steps that he got hurt. =P

Tom was making/ mixing the rootbeer and Ella became his best friend for the rest of the night.

I don't even know what this group of people signifies, I was just instructed to take a photo. ☺

Ugh!

Grandma and Grandpa Hanks and my mom have been supplying me with cucumbers, so I've made around 30 jars of pickles. I've tried two different recipies, so I'll have to see which one I end up liking better. The first batch I made I tried a recipe from Pinterest, and the second batch I made a family recipe that my Grandma Hanks used to make.
Now I need to get picking all the pears we have on our trees and so something with those. =P
Aidan is loving kindergarten, Ella is loving preschool, and Britton wishes he could stay at preschool. :) I let him stay a play for a few minutes every day, but he's still kind of like a bulldozer.
The strangest stomach bug is going around, and Ella has been fighting with it for a week now. She started throwing up last weekend, but at the time we weren't sure if it was something she ate or if she picked something up since at that time no one else had been sick. Well, Britton ended up getting it (and still has it) and I've not been myself, but this stuff has been hanging on for FOREVER.
Our neighbors, Brad and Cheryl moved today. They are moving on to bigger and better things for themselves and we wish them well in their new endeavors.
We had a freak rainstorm last week that dropped a lot rain in a very short amount of time, and the kids loved playing in all the puddles of the aftermath. The unfortunate (or fortunate?) is that all that water exposed a leak in our roof, and we had water running down through the light in our back entryway. Thankfully, Cary is a handy guy and fixed it. :)
Cary has really been getting a lot of work done in our yard and I'll have to post some updated pictures soon. We're hoping to get the lawn planted soon. We do have a pesky gopher that is making our life difficult and has been hard to get rid of.
Cary and Kiah are lawn and sprinkler experts now, so here they are fixing a sprinkler in grandpa's yard. ;)
 Britton is helping.
By running off with the tools.
The nights are definitely starting to cool down and it feels a little bit more like Fall until it hits 90 degrees during the afternoon...☺
