Shower

A wedding shower, not to be confused with all the rain showers we've been getting around here.
My cousin Danika is getting married next month.
(by the way, Sharon and I counted and we have over 60 cousins, and Malcolm hasn't even started having kids yet. Muahahaha!)
My first "real" job was babysitting Danika for a summer, when I was like 11. So this is kind of surreal for me.☺
Does this mean I'm officially entering the old people twilight zone?
Sharon and her big A** lens. (I'm just jealous)

Grandma

I know that Beth is going to love this picture.

Ooooh, poopsy woopsy, cutesy wootsy.

95

"Grandpa Bob" turned 95 on August 5.
My Aunt and Uncle, Dean and Linda were here to visit so they took Grandpa for a little ride up to the park to drive up the mountain, and stop for some ice cream. While they were gone, a bunch of us raided Grandpa's house and spring (late summer?) cleaned.
Chandra, mom, Sharon, Breanna, Kara, Jenna and myself scoured walls, windows, floors, etc... and got that place sparkling in just a few short hours. Grandpa doesn't remember that he hasn't cleaned (and he's 95, so it's not like we expect him to do it!) and he won't let anyone else do it either so this was the only way to get it done.
We were a little worried that he would notice and be mad, but apparently his response when he got back inside was "It feels really nice in here". ☺
Later that evening we had a little party for him.

Double Birthday

We have lots of birthday's around here during this time of year.
The other day (the day of the thunderstorm) we were going to have a birthday party for Breanna and Christian.
The power went out right as we showed up to start cooking and all that, but luckily the stove works and the oven under that stove works during power outages so we were able to still make some food. It was interesting, but it worked.
The power came back on right as we were beginning to eat.

I promise this girl looks presentable when we leave the house in the morning.

The grandparents

Everyone was wanting to see Alyshia and braces-less teeth.

She wouldn't smile for me. ☺

Oh, Ella.

You know, when Aidan was little I heard stories of kids pooping and while in their rooms smearing poop all over the bed, walls etc... and I just couldn't believe it.
Then I had another child named Ella. The second (and third?) child has a way of making me eat humble pie for a lot of things I've said.
The other day I was sitting on the couch and she came up to me and said "Here Momma" and proceeded to try and hand me a handful of poop.
Ewwww... "Ella!"
Ever since then every time she messes her pants she's digging for gold, so any suggestions on how to stop this? :o)
The girl is just full of vim and vigor and sometimes I realize we have quite the job of protecting her from herself. ☺
I never really understood what people meant when they said that.
Now I do.
On Sunday (or was it Monday?) she was trying to go down a tall slide (the one by mom and dad's house)and catapulted herself over the side. Kenneth, Cary and I all watched it, horrified.
I was the one screaming and running towards her after we watched her land on her head.
Ugh.
It all turned out ok.
She cried for awhile, had some scratches and dirt on her body, but she was back to running around in about 15 minutes.
We did keep our eye on her though, making sure she didn't show signs of a concussion or anything else.
It's at that point that you realize that no matter what you do, you can only do so much and PRAY that God is watching over her too (and hopefully a few guardian angels)!
It's been a fun summer for the kids.
They are glad that all the cousins are back from all the vacations, especially since now they can go next door and find someone to play with. ☺
We're really hoping to get our house done soon, as we're a 'little' tired of living in limbo. Seems like we've been doing this for almost 2 years now so it will be nice to be living somewhere that's "permanent".
Nope, this post doesn't have any photos.
The internet has been really bad the past few days so I can't upload photos, that's what happens when you piggy back off your nice neighbors' internet. ☺

Wowzers

It's almost August, people.
I've been out of school for 7 years and yet I still feel a sense of dread during the month of August about going back to school. (College, I'm sure I was usually ready for school to start all the other years of my life) ☺
I should be excited for school to start this year since Aidan and Ella will be going. (3 days a week, for 3-ish hours)
Work is still moving along on the house.
Mostly on the inside they have been taping and mudding, so not very interesting to take pictures of, but still exciting.
We're waiting for the entry doors to get here before they can finish the stucco outside.
The kids testing out the new sidewalk

"Mom, I'm looking at my teeth with the flashlight."

"Can I look in your mouth?"
Britton has been teething for what feels like forever now, but I think it's actually only been a week. ☺
He was sleeping awesome and then BAM, we were back to newborn sleeping patterns.
I've been feeling somewhat zombie-ish (and cranky) from lack of sleep.

Walking Vintage Style

Kath brought out this old walker for Britton to use at the center.
This thing is totally vintage.
All of Cary's brothers and sisters used it, and some cousins who are even older. (and some cousins who are younger too, it's had a long full life.)

Aidan and Ella were excited about it too.

Then Ella played the piano with Grandpa.

House Progress

Some parts of the house have the finish stucco coat, but the weather was really hot and windy this week, so they really couldn't do much outside. So that means they worked inside and got a lot of the sheet rock done. Yahoo!
Doesn't even look like the same house, eh?

How exciting!

Maybe we really will move into this house someday...☺
