The 4th of July weekend 2011

Blogger wasn't letting me upload photos for most of the week so this is coming at you a week late. Apparently they were updating since everything is looking different (and frustrating the heck out of me). =)

My little boys hanging out

It was a great weekend of being with friends and family and great weather, until the 4th.

The morning of the 4th was the 2nd annual walk-a-song.
(Last year's photos)

I missed it this year since Cary was running, so I was home with the kids.
When we drove up to EskDale, we passed Cecelia's water booth and Alex was still running.

Cary came in second out of the 5K runners (22:51 min), Dillon was first (22:09 min)
Stole the picture from Sharon.

As you can see from the walk-a-song photos, the day started out with good weather.
and then around 5:30-6:00 it started raining.
Rain isn't something we usually have to worry about for the 4th of July.
 Wind? Yes!
Rain? No!
We were all like "Crap, but it will blow over in like an hour."
Yeeeeaah.

That didn't happen.
It rained...
and rained...
and rained.
We were not prepared for that much rain.

Luckily, we have the dining hall and it can hold quite a few people, but most of the chairs were outside in the ampitheater for the program that was supposed to happen out there.
(the program ended up being in the aud)

It made for a pretty sunset later that night.
We still had a lot of people show up and we made it through!

All the rain ruined the fireworks show.
It flooded the electronics and wiring, so a bunch of the wires were shot.
Dean was able to get some of them to light, intentionally and unintentionally. =)
I can't remember how many actually went off that night, and then we tried the next night, but ultimately there were a lot of fireworks that were just ruined from too much water.

Round House Tour

Morning Sunshine!

*WARNING*
These pictures of my house will make you want to organize and clean.
It made me want to.
Kind of like, I know I'm fat and that I should do something about it, but somehow you convince yourself it's not that bad until you see a picture of yourself that tells the truth.
Yeah that.
I went and did some organizing and cleaning after I saw these pictures. ☺

I had lots of plans for updating things before we moved in, and then we moved in and work sped up on our other house and I lost all my motivation.

Part of the kitchen and living room area.

There was a wood stove here when we moved in, but it took up WAY too much space and we knew we'd never be making a fire in it, so it was removed. Plus it was the perfect place for the TV. ☺
I also had plans to paint over the brick and wood paneling, but that's one of those things that I'm still contemplating. Depends on how much longer we'll be living here. ☺

Living room looking towards the front door entry

Hallway leading to bedrooms and bathroom, left side of the ugly brick and wood paneling.

Stairs to the upper room (ha ha ha) on the right side of ugly wood paneling and brick.

Yeah, so upstairs is not pretty right now, but this room always has lots of natural light

but right now, the upper room is the storage/ catch all room. If it happens that Cary starts working from home, we'll have to clean this room out.

Bathroom

Kids playroom that is in some serious need of organization

Piece of furniture that I'm supposed to finish painting.
Whoops.

Kids bedroom.
Ella and Aidan like to sleep in the same room right now.

Our black out curtain is pretty awesome, don't you think?
Sun setting at 9:30 ish + 8:00 bed time for kids + window facing west = still light outside at kids bedtime and they don't want to go to sleep.

Our bedroom.
(sorry I didn't clean up for ya!)
Britton was taking a nap and I didn't want to wake him up. ;)

The closet is pretty good sized, but the space is not well utilized so if we were staying here long term, I'd definitely change some things, and also change the layout of the bedroom. Hopefully we won't be here too much longer though, so I don't know that it's worth the tme and energy.
I'm so lazy.

All the pictures that need to be hung up and boxes that still need to be unpacked.

Half bath off the bedroom

Front entry/ Laundry

Took some pictures of the living room after everyone else was in bed, so that the living room stayed clean for a few minutes.

Summer Lovin'

Last weekend it was a really nice HOT day so we got the pool out for the kids.
Good thing we took advantage then, because the last two days have been high wind days, like, if we had them in the pool, it probably would have blown away WITH the kids in it. LOL.

Ella reliving the glory days. ☺
So, I was coming home from EskDale that day, and the scene was SO pretty, but I didn't have my camera with me so I was trying to (safely) hurry home and get my camera. I pulled up to the driveway and there was a snake on our porch. Yeah, snakes and I don't get along, so I waited until he removed himself to a different location, so this was the shot I was left with.
What our other house was looking like over the weekend.
