Preparing for Sukkot

Tonight is Erev Sukkot and so the first day of Sukkot will be tomorrow AND that means that some people will be camping out at night under the stars for a week. These are the brave, brave souls. Mostly for the House of Aaron we set up a tent at the home base (ha) and they eat meals in there instead of camping outside cause it's freaking cold. I'm afraid that while I'm SLC it's business as usual for the most part, but we were there while they were setting up the tent.

Dave, Kenneth and Emily waiting for the work to start.

Measuring everything out.
You saw it here first ladies and gentlemen!
I kid, I kid......we know you're a hard worker Ken!
Breanna trying it out.

Christian and Latham giving it a shot.

Dad wondering why I'm taking pictures instead of helping. Heh. ;-)

My little boy wondering why he's sitting on a cold sidewalk.
Luckily Kenneth is a nice uncle and took him to grandma and grandpa's where it was warm.

Going up.

Tightening the loose ends

Putting up the walls. Voila!
I didn't get any pictures of the final product because we were in a hurry to get home, but since we're going back to celebrate this weekend I'll have more pictures.

Fall Colors.

Well, I'm still waiting to hear about Dan and Melanie and whether or not she's going to have that baby! She was due last week and they headed to Boise last Thursday where Dan's mom lives and she'll deliver the baby, (She's a midwife) so we're still waiting, waiting, waiting. I guess Ethan was 5 days late and he's been making up for it ever since. ;-)

I really like the way Tamarisks look in the winter, but this pesky plant is a farmer/rancher's worst nightmare and it's starting to spring up around the run off water.

Birthday Party!

While visiting family this last weekend, there was a birthday party for a 90 yr old lady that I've known my whole life. Somehow I managed to not even take a direct picture of her, but I got one of Fay who I don't think I had seen since we moved to SLC.

She's as happy as ever.

Vera (the birthday lady) is in the background wearing light blue and white.

My mom and grandparents enjoying cake and ice cream.
And here is Aidan wondering why he's awake.

Aunt Teresa's house update

Well, after my last post of pictures, Shawn was confused as to where the house was even being built, so I thought I'd take pictures surrounding the house so he might recognize where it's placed, but FIRST! As you can tell, not much has happened as far as progress on the inside.

My awesome husband.

The shed is still there.

The end. Hopefully that gave you more of an idea where it's located Shawn. :-) Weather permitting, they should be working on the stucco this week.

Yom Kippur snowstorm

What's worse than not being able to eat all day? Having a snowstorm too. Sorry, I'm no fan of the snow, especially when it's the middle of October.

We visited our parents for Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) weekend because misery loves company, right? :-)

This is what we woke up to Sabbath morning.....
Luckily, most of it melted by later afternoon.
Between the snow and cold, our soup and bread tasted THAT much better later that night.

Sad

Pretty much the most heartbreaking thing I've read in a while and I just can't get this family out of my mind.

http://sgirl79.blogspot.com/

You'll get the full affect if you can listen to the music too.

He's so cute.

And so smart......
Lately he reads his books like this and then he pretends to read and talks and laughs while he's looking at the book.

He also likes bathtime

There wasn't really anything important about the tub pictures. I just thought they were cute.
Side note: My brother in law (one of them. heh.) just had a birthday this week and later this week he's headed off to Iraqistan ;-) for many months so the main mission of my blog is to keep him informed of what's happening back at home. Good luck Shawn! I'll do my best to keep you in the loop. ;-)
