Crazy Weekend

It seems as though were just home long enough to make big messes and then we leave. Here's a sneak peak for one of the things we've been doing.

In highschool our choir sang a song that was based on that passage titled "Know My Heart" and so everytime I hear those scriptures that song immediately is in my head. The Joyful Noise Choir* had sung that song a few years ago at one of our MIA conferences in SLC, so I went to the HOA media page to see if Sharon had it on video. I couldn't find it but found yet another song that is always getting stuck in my head. Offeratory based on the passage Micah 6:6

6 With what shall I come before the LORD

Here is the video of the Joyful Noise Choir singing it in 2006, but the first time I sang it was in 1999.
Lately when I can't sleep at night these songs have been popping into my head and it's kind of nice that songs make it so you can know a passage of scripture when I don't other wise remember diddly squat. ☺ Reading the Bible has been something I've been wanting to get better about on a daily basis, so I just need a lot of scripture based songs that I can have stuck in my head. Actually, there are lot of songs based on scripture, I suppose I just need to be more familiar with where in the Bible they are coming from.

On another front, we took Ella to the doctor today for her 6 month appointment. (I'm only a little over a month late!) I hate it when they get shots, I feel so bad for them, but she's taken it really well and she didn't cry very long and hasn't seemed too bothered my the shot site. Both kids have been cursed with excema (sorry!) and she's been breaking out with it on her back and the back of her legs. She was 15 lbs 10 oz, so her weight has really slowed down now that she's so active. Annetta (our nurse) measured her at 27-1/2 inches in length, but I'm skeptical. Ha ha. Ella is probably a good inch shorter than that.

*Joyful Noise Choir is the rag tag choir of those who like to sing in a choir. Volunteers and sometimes we resort to a little arm twisting to get other people to sing. :o) We usually only get to practice a couple of times before performing. Our performances are usually at the three major feasts.

Henry & Evan

Sydney wanted a couple pictures of her boys and I always could use some practice with the camera, so we had a mini shoot. Here are a few of the shots. Henry is three, and Evan is almost 4 months old.

What a kid.

So for one of our art projects we made an alligator and I had Aidan glue some sequins on it....apparently that didn't fly because he then picked all or most of them off. So I asked him if he'd rather paint it (he's really into water-coloring right now) so he did that instead.

Looks like the alligator killed and ate something. ☺

We have a spare room and we have the guest bed in there all nice and cramped cozy like, but we have one of our extra chairs in there next to the bed. So Cary puts Aidan to bed last night and we watched the Jazz come back from being behind in the game, to beat the Suns (Go Jazz!) We were getting ready for bed when Cary went to check on Aidan and he wasn't in his bed.

He was found all snuggled up in the guest bed.

Urrrg. (Atleast my kids are cute)

I just got done grocery shopping and I would like to go on a rant for a moment. It seems like everytime I read an article in a magazine they are telling you something new not to eat, turn around read a different article that says TO eat what I was just told NOT to eat. Example.

Canola oil vs. Vegetable oil. I've read or heard either way. Maybe I should just use olive oil for everything and see how it goes. :o)

Another example: Canned tomato products. In one magazine it said to stay away from all canned tomato products because of the reaction the tomatoes have with the cans creates something that causes cancer, blah, blah, blah.... so I resolve to more fresh tomatoes. Only to read another article that says TO eat canned tomato stuff because the Lycopene and all that is higher concentrated than eating fresh tomatoes, yada yada.

Sooooo I'm back to square one, which is where I should learn to stay: Everything in moderation.

Moving on. Cary is the best husband ever. Thanks to him it was the only reason my house ever looked clean this week. (I did clean today though, bonus points for me!) He's also such a sport playing with the kids. Alan and Sandy sent Aidan a toy that has a suction cup that you are supposed to stick on the side of the bathtub, etc...so they can play with it in the bath. Well, Cary thought he would be funny and stick it on his forehead. (yeah, he's a smart guy) So he and Aidan were having fun with that for a little while, and when they were done he realized he was going to have a giant bruise right in the middle of his forehead.

So just an FYI. Don't stick the suction cups to your body unless you want it to look like you have a giant hickey there.

And yes, Cary had a "bulls-eye" there on his forehead for awhile and I would burst out laughing every time he walked in the door. (I was nice and didn't take a picture)

I did take more pictures of these guys though! ;o)

Mom and Kenneth came in this last week and so the kids and I got to hang out with them for a bit. We always like to have people come and visit/ stay with us.  :o)  Ken and I went to Honeyville Grain and that just may be one of my new favorite places...is that weird?
